On November 16, 2017, Elder Dignity Co-Founder Teresa Kay-Aba Kennedy participated in the Americans Against Abusive Probate Guardianship (AAAPG) Protest Rally Against Abusive Guardianship at the National College of Probate Judges (NCPJ) Conference in Ponte Vedra, Florida.

Families from across the country--Florida, Nevada, Washington, Wisconsin--came together to give voice to concerns about the abusive guardianships endorsed by the Probate Court. After the protest, the families and advocates gathered for a town hall discussion. The stories were heart-breaking and eerily similar. Due process and rules of evidence were routinely ignored by Probate Judges allowing for a full take-down of estates. In many instances, the loved one was abducted and isolated for no justifiable reason.

The event underscored the need for a move away from guardianships altogether and toward supported decision-making--eliminating the current profit motive and oppressive structure.
